El suicidio en Suiza

Abstract

Uno de los problemas que más preocupa las autoridades suizas es el suicidio; efectivamente entre las muertes violentas, el suicidio es en este país la primera causa de mortalidad. En suiza, cada año aproximadamente 1.400 personas ponen fin a sus días, lo que representa una tasa de mortalidad de 20 personas por 100.000 habitantes hecho que coloca a este país en el grupo de países industrializados que más sufren de este fenómeno. Por otro lado, un estudio de la Organización Mundial de la salud estima que en el país la tasa de tentativas de suicidio es 10 a 20 veces superior a la de los suicidios. Teniendo encuenta el número impresionante de personas que ponen fin a su vida,un estudio sobre el suicidio se planteó pertinente, de los resultados de esta investigación se tratará en este artículo.

Abstract: One of the problems of greatest concern to the Swiss authorities is suicide; among violent deaths, suicides in this country are the leading cause of mortality. In Switzerland, every year approximately 1,400 people kill themselves, which represents a mortality rate of 20 persons per 100,000 inhabitants and places this country among the group of industrialized nations that most suffers from this phenomenon. Furthermore, a study by the World Health Organization estimates that in Switzerland the rate of attempted suicide is 10 to 20 times higher than that of actual suicides. Given the impressive number of people who end their lives, a study of suicide was determined to be relevant, and the results are discussed in this article.
